HOW IT ALL STARTED

Company History:

Wet Wolf was founded in 2024 by Mica Purcell, a passionate dog lover and advocate for animal welfare. Mica recognized the need for truly natural, organic, and cruelty-free skin and coat care products for dogs.

The Journey Begins

Cola, my Jack Russell/Chihuahua mix, was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in 2021, marking the start of a transformative journey. The COVID pandemic added an extra layer of challenge, with vets booked solid and emergency appointments requiring an 18-hour wait in the scorching heat. After a two-week wait, Cola's condition had deteriorated alarmingly, and the vet suggested euthanasia. But I refused to give up on my beloved pup.

A Desperate Search for Answers

The next three months were a rollercoaster of trial and error. Cola rejected the prescribed diabetic food, and I scoured the internet for solutions. That's when I stumbled upon a recipe for homemade diabetic dog food. With some tweaking to suit Cola's needs, the recipe worked wonders! She began eating twice a day, her insulin took effect, and her tail wagged once more.

A Newfound Vigilance

After Cola's health scare, I became meticulous about researching every product that came into contact with my dogs. I was shocked and disheartened to discover that many dog products, from food to shampoos, prioritized profits over animal well-being. Even more alarming, some shampoos seemed designed to appeal to human preferences rather than meet canine health needs.

A Bittersweet Tribute

In 2023, after bravely battling type 1 diabetes for two years, my dear Cola passed away at the remarkable age of 17.5 years. (Even writing this brings tears to my eyes.) Her legacy lives on, fueling my passion for creating safe, healthy products for dogs and advocating for their welfare.

A Heartfelt Thank You

I extend my deepest gratitude to Emerald City Pet Rescue in Seattle, WA, for their lifesaving efforts. Cola, her daughter Chiweenie, and our beloved Boy Groot were all adopted from Emerald City Pet Rescue, thanks to their tireless work in rescuing dogs from shelters in San Bernardino and San Diego, CA, during the devastating 2017 wildfires. Their dedication to thorough adoption practices not only changed our lives but also inspired my mission to create a better world for dogs. Thank you for all that you do!
