Adjust-A-Thrust for Polaris PWC
In 1992, the Polaris SL 650 was the fastest watercraft on the market. The ’93 SL 750 posted respectable top speed numbers, but the midrange performance was lacking, and it was a slug out of the hole. Look at the pump on a ’92 or ’93 Polaris, it looked a lot like any other PWC pump of that generation. In ’94 when Polaris switched to the big mouth modular pump, midrange improved, as did low end. The enlarged bearing housing and huge plastic tailcone gave the water nowhere to go but out, and it had better get there fast because there was more coming, and water doesn’t compress. Because there is less space for the water to fill, the pump does a far better job of maintaining water velocity. Another note of interest is the Polaris extended pump, this nifty item is a 4" pump extension  which relocates the pump stator rearward, a longer driveshaft, and a longer ride plate. This pump modification was good for 3-4 mph on the top end, and was stock on the first SLX 780 in '94 or '95. When the Pro 785 was introduced, the pump extension was placed behind the stator, this allowed for a shorter driveshaft. On a race craft that  spins 8000 rpm a shorter driveshaft reduces the possibility of premature carrier bearing wear, and bent shafts due to flexing. While this may have helped extend driveshaft life, it doesn't help acceleration, especially in rough water. By placing the pump extension behind the stator, a huge chamber is created. This huge chamber must be filled with water before that water can be used to accelerate the craft. In rough water, every time your pump comes unhooked, you have the refill that chamber. The Adjust-A-Thrust for the Pro 785 and 1200  fills this chamber so that your pump doesn't have to. 
Acceleration in rough water is noticably  improved, and top speed is increased by .8 to 1.5 mph on most Polaris PWC.
